Why HTML-Friendly Directories?

I chose to only submit to HTML directories for four reasons:

  1. Optimized Anchor Text: The best part of submitting an article, as opposed to links exchanges or directory submissions, is that you have total control over anchor text. As we all know, anchor text is a key factor in Google’s Ranking Algorithm; so submitting articles to sites that allow for this method of optimization is a wise move.
  2. Web-Friendly Copy: The goal of article submissions is to get published in a major ezine for traffic and quality backlinks. Any ezine publisher worth his or her salt knows good web copy when they see it. Copy that is easily scannable and broken down into easy-to-read chunks and bulleted lists is going to have the edge when it comes to being published in a respected ezine.

Furthermore, if you can make a page scannable, you can hold the end-reader’s attention longer. This will result in more traffic. Creating web friendly copy is impossible without HTML.
  3. Speed of Submissions: When submitting articles, I use the Firefox Web Browser and, with it, a free custom form submitter called Fireform. Fireform allows me to submit my articles to every site on this list in an hour.

A great deal of time and effort have gone into customizing this tool, and one of the reasons why I chose not to include non-HTML-friendly directories is because they slow down my submission time. Non-HTML-friendly article directories seem to be altogether less compatible with this software.
  4. Quality of Article Directories: Article directories that do not accept HTML, I find, are often poorly organized for the search engines, have no logins, no clear site structure or means to edit articles. Not to say that every link in the table above is a gem, but in general, that is what I find.

So why would you want to submit to a directory that doesn’t take HTML? Speed. Most auto-submission services won’t accept HTML, because it can’t be mass-submitted. There are too many variances. The same goes for auto-submitting software. This solution, in my opinion, is the best of both worlds, offering quality and speed.

Page Rank (PR):
Page Rank, in my view, is a snapshot of how trusted a domain is by Google. The higher the PR of a domain, the more link-juice* is passed by any and all links from that domain.

When submitting articles, always consider not only how many times your article can potentially be reprinted, but also the quality of the link you will be getting from the article site itself.

Domain Links in Yahoo
First, I chose Yahoo because it returns the most accurate back link information of the big three search engines. I also chose it for the advanced search query “linkdomain:” The search query linkdomain will return every backlink attributed to that site.

The way an article directory’s linking strategy works is it makes content freely available to ezines and other publishers provided it receives a link every time one of its articles is published. So, it would be a logical assumption that the more links it receives to the entire domain, the more articles it has had republished. Meaning, getting your articles published in an Article Submission Site that boasts thousands if not millions of backlinks is something to aim for.

Granted, this is not always the case, as the article directory site may have conducted a link building campaign without any articles being republished at all.

Pages Indexed in Google
This column is important for two reasons.

  1. The number of pages indexed in Google of an article directory site that hosts, presumably, hundreds if not thousands of articles is a good indicator of how optimized the site structure is, where more is better. Unfortunately, this number won’t convey much information about sites without many articles. I wish I knew how many articles were contained within each site, so that I could compare that number to how many have been indexed. (If anyone wants to find that information for me, I’ll be happy to drop you a link.)
  2. Secondly, the higher the index number, the more likely your article is to be published, giving you higher probability of receiving a link.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Article Submission

Source: On Demand Knowledge Management Software & Service
Tags: Search Engine Optimization

Why article submission

1. Build Trust

From all the articles posted online, people will read about the author and the company. They will see that you know what you are talking about, and that you offer sensible, sane, advice.  Do it right, and they will test everything else to see if it measures up to the standards you have set.  In short, they will learn to TRUST you.  And when they are ready to buy, they will either buy from you (if you have a product or service to sell), or they will listen to your recommendations - and buy through your affiliate links.

How will this happen?

Simply because you will provide solid, valuable, helpful content. AND they will see your name all over the web. Whichever way they turn, they will come across your name and your content. Again and Again.  Pretty soon it becomes obvious who is the leader, the expert, the authority on this particular topic.  And so they will come to your site already pre-sold on whatever you have to tell them.

2. Work for search engine

All that content, that is all over the web, is pure honey for the search engines! Like bees they swarm to it - all the more so since it is all unique content.  They lap it up, process it, and serve it up to the public through the search engine results.  After all, that is what search engines do best - discover unique content and provide it to the searching public.

Not only is there all that unique content, but in it there are links, correctly formatted links, that point back to your website. Not one or two, but hundreds. And, over time, not hundreds but thousands and tens of thousands!  Now the search engines love you even more!  Thousands of targeted links on themed content pages tells the search engine that your site is the authority on this particular niche.  Especially when these links are coming from sites that the search engines have already rated as "authority" sites!

3. Built on sound principles

It has worked since the internet began.  In fact it has worked since before the internet began, only back then you would have submitted your article to various newspapers or magazines for publication.  And it will continue to work, because it is based on sound principles, not on the latest fad or gimmick.

How to do article submission

Step 1. Write an article about your niche.

But don't just write any old article.  Write something that provides value.  Answer a question that the reader has. And then suggest ways they can get more information, or point them in the direction of finding the products that will solve their problems.

On the internet it is not just about providing content, it is about providing  unique content. And that is where all the submission services fall down.  Every one of them sends out the same article all over the place.  Yes, initially the search engines pick them all up, but then, with time, they sort through them and find they are all the same.  They still remain indexed, but their value diminishes.  They show up in the search engines less, and their links back to you count for less.

One of the most effective tactics is to do an article along the lines of "Don't buy X unless it meets these criteria" in which you spell out all the features they should be looking for in a product - which just so happen to match exactly the features of the product you are selling.  If your niche is golf shoes then you might, for example, write an article on "How to Find the Perfect Golf Shoe".

Now, you can't actually put a link to your site inside the body of the article, as most article publishers will just remove it.  But what you can do, indeed are expected to do, is to put a "resource box" at the end of the article with a link to your site.  Something like this (no, the links don't work, it is just an example):

Sample:
--------
About the author: Joe Smith has specialized in Golfing Accessories for the past 5 years and has produced a free report that exposes the underhand techniques golf shoe companies use to sell you sub-quality merchandise.  Don't be caught out. Get you free report on Golf Shoes now. You have full permission to reprint this article provided this box is kept unchanged.
--------

Step 2. Submit that article to all the top article directories, announcement lists, and ezine publishers

They will grab it, and either publish it on the web, or send it out in their ezine to their thousands of subscribers.  Then other webmasters and ezine publishers will see it, and they too will pick it up and publish it... And on it goes, first hundreds then thousands of copies of your article all over the web, driving hordes of qualified buyers right to your website.

Where to publish article?

Just do a search on Google for  "article directories" and "ezine publishers" and you will find literally hundreds of places to send your article.  Just visit each one, fill in their form to register your account, then fill in their submission form, select the appropriate category and...

Step 3. Repeat.  In fact, the best strategy is to do this once per week for every website you own.  The results actually become exponential, as the more they see your name in print, the more credible you become, and the more likely it is that other publishers will pick up your articles and reprint them.  In fact, quite frequently I have had people contact me asking for permission to print my articles offline in their magazine (a real paper and ink magazine)!  How cool is that?  Talk about free publicity!  Of course I said "yes" each time.

By doing this, by the end of the year you will have tens or maybe hundreds of thousands of qualified, genuine, one-way links to your site.  Plus all those different articles will show up for all sorts of "long-tail" searches (i.e. people typing three or more words into the search engines.  You will start to receive traffic from all sorts of places you never previously new about.

Create blog related to your company, potential customer, industry, area or product will help improve the rank of your web site. Multiple blogs will help more. You should have a Google blog, a Wordpress blog or blog created from PrimeObjects (PrimeObjects Blogging Software, Business Blog, Blog Service & Blog Management). The Google blog is important to you because we know that Google will index those blogs regularly as new content is added into your blog. The Wordpress blogs are very search engine friendly and are also very important for many of the other top online search engines such as Yahoo and MSN. You can use PrimeObjects blog to keep all the original copies of your blog post, pictures and videos, because PrimeObjects blog is the most information management oriented blog management service.

After creating blog, you should untilize your most important keywords as the part of the url of the blog post and broadly plugged into the content of the post in a natural way. This is important to you because your blogs will be regarded much better and your blogs content will rank much higher by the search engines for that particular subject matter as indicated by the text and keywords within your blogs url paths. In those blog posts, don't forget to add two to three different, relevant text links utilizing your important keywords and keyword phrases that you provide to us that will point direct to your website. Of course some of these links can point directly to your important interior web page urls. These text links will also be using variations of your important keywords so that your web site will grow in link popularity for all your relevant and related keywords.

In order to improve the value of your blog further, you should also place an occasional link to other relevant and related subject matter web sites that will add value to your blog and to your blog reader's experience. These may be links to sites like Wikipedia or some article directory etc.

To broaden the exposure of your blog and blog posts, you need to submit the RSS feed of your blog to the more RSS feed directory the better. And also social bookmark the posts to the more social bookmark sites the better.
